5 SHOT "GROUP SIZE" TARGET SAMPLES

This "mechanical accuracy test" demonstrates the potential for benchrest performance in non-benchrest conditions.  The Rezolution 10/22 tactical receiver provides the possibility of assembling your own top performing .22 tactical precision rifle.

TEST:  Utilizing 5 different Rezolution-XL Elite Rifles, test the "Mechanical Accuracy" of each rifle.

SETUP: This test series utilized unsorted Wolf Match Extra .22 Long Rifle ammunition.  The integral dampeners remained at the factory seting of 25 inch pounds.  No other fine tuning to the ammunition was done for the test firing.  Testing has shown that the Rezolution Elite's will shoot under .250 at 25 yards with quality ammo with little to no fine tuning.

QUESTION: Why did the groupings not hit the bullseye?

ANSWER: Gunsmiths and shooters striving for the utmost accuracy in their weapon check the mechanical accuracy of the weapon by attempting to place all the rounds through the same hole as was created by the first round.  The scope is purposely adjusted off center for this test.  If the scope were tweaked so that all the rounds hit the bulls eye, then the target lines that the gunsmith is placing the scope cross hairs on would be blown away.  The accuracy of the test is mitigated if the target lines are destroyed.  To get around this issue, the scope is adjusted slightly out of line, in one of the 4 quadrants.  The goal in a mechanical accuracy test is to discover how close together each round (usually 5) will come to the first one.  The diameter of the 5 shot group is measured and it is this number that is used as the measure of the mechanical accuracy of the rifle.  A highly tuned rifle under benchrest conditions and using special ammunition is capable of placing rounds in basically the same place as the first round.

Hitting the bullseye determines how well the scope is tweaked in (and destroys the lines in the center of the target).

A small 5 round group size measures the mechanical accuracy of a rifle (the bullseye is needed to accurately keep the crosshairs lined up in exactly the same place for each shot)
